Gerardo has worked as a lawyer specialized in maritime law, advising important national and foreign companies in the maritime and shipping sector. He has also represented insurers, P&I clubs, shipowners, shippers, consignees and cargo owners, in judicial or arbitration processes related to maritime and commercial claims, including damage or loss of vessels and / or cargo, as well as government detention of ships in Venezuela.
He is a postgraduate professor at the Universidad Marítima del Caribe. He has served as a Superior Maritime Accidental Judge in Caracas from 2012, as well as a permanent consultant for Venezuela at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
